Philippine Airlines (PAL), founded in 1941, is Asia’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. From its hub in Manila, PAL operates to a network of domestic, Asian and intercontinental destinations.
PAL is a full-service carrier – the only airline offering business class cabins on domestic services in the Philippines. It has a modern fleet with the Airbus A350 being the most recent addition.
During the current pandemic, PAL has helped to maintain crucial connectivity to, from and within the Philippines. PAL has played a major role in the transportation of vaccines, other medical supplies and medical staff.
Did you know? PAL was the first airline in Southeast Asia to fly to Europe. In 1947, PAL started a DC-4 service to Rome, Madrid and London. The flight took two days with stops in Kolkata, Karachi and Cairo.
PAL’s frequent flyer programme is called “Mabuhay Miles”. Mabuhay is a common Filipino greeting meaning literally “live!”. It is often used as the equivalent of “long live!”, “cheers!” or simply as a celebratory “hurrah”. So, ‘Mabuhay Philippine Airlines’ for being one of Industrial Optimizers’ oldest customers!
